Our Mission
At the Vancouver Youth Mathematical Modeling Association (VYMMA), we believe theoretical mathematics is more than a bundle of abstract principles – it is a powerful force which has the potential to shape and transform the real world. Our mission is to close the gap between theoretical learning and applications of the real world by teaching youths to integrate these two topics together and analyze the issue as a whole through generalized and abstract models of the real world. We provide a platform where like-minded students can work together to tackle complicated issues and provide innovative solutions. Through group projects, design activities, and innovative solutions, we are dedicated to ensure that our students are well-equipped with the tools to succeed.

The Vancouver Youth Mathematical Modeling Association (VYMMA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of problem solvers through the exploration of mathematics and modeling. We believe mathematical modeling is the key link for applying theoretical mathematics to solve problems in the real world. At VYMMA, we simplify complicated real-life problems into an abstract model to analyze it on a micro-level. By doing this, we form creative solutions that wouldn’t have been accessible to the naked eye. We believe this approach is essential for addressing significant issues and to form a better world tomorrow.
